Yetiştirme

Carex distachya dere kıyısınemli bölge ve sulak alanlarda görülür. Kumlukilli ve tınlı topraklara uyumludur.

Cins adı Latince saz; tür adı ise Yunanca iki kulaklı anlamına gelir.

Subgen. Indocarex: Monoecious. Spikes solitary or 2 or more, androgynous; lateral spikes arising from a fertile utricle or an urceolate cladoprophyll. Stigmas 3. Rachilla present or absent.
Sect. Schiedeanae: Densely caespitose. Stems slender. Spikes androgynous, 2-4, all similar; female part lax, few-flowered, with an unwinged or flattened axis; bracts not equivalent or similar to female glumes, leaf-like; lower lateral spikes arising from a glumaceous scale (cladoprophyll) open on one side. Utricles bluntly trigonous, with 2 very distinct almost winged lateral veins, glabrous; beak short but distinct. Stigmas 3. Rachilla absent.
Stems 10-40 cm, almost filiform, bluntly trigonous, smooth or sometimes scabrid in uppermost part and inflorescence; basal sheaths greyish-brown to brown, becoming blackish-brown and sometimes fibrous. Leaves c. equalling stems, 0.5-2.5 mm broad, flat with setaceous, ± curled, scabrid upper part, midgreen or greyish-green. Inflorescence c. 1/3 x stem. Spikes remote, very lax with only 2-5 female flowers; axis zigzag, not winged at base of utricles; lower lateral spikes arising from an often wrinkled cladoprophyll to 4 mm; lower bracts leaf-like, much longer than inflorescence, shortly sheathed. Female glumes equalling utricles, sometimes ± bract-like (at least lowest), amplexicaul, hyaline-margined, pale brownish-green. Utricles pale greenish-brown, broadly fusiform, 4-5.5 mm, with a flat side towards axis, glabrous, thin-walled, slightly shining, abruptly narrowed into short (0.4 mm), straight, obliquely truncate beak; margin of orifice hyaline, not ciliate. Base of style thickened. Nut brown, sharply trigonous. Dry stony slopes, open forests, roadsides, s.l.-1450 m.
